How To Sublimate a Ceramic Holiday Ornament - Step-by-Step (with pictures!)
Turn your customer's special moments into lifelong keepsakes with porcelain holiday ornaments! Using sublimation imprinting, custom ornaments are the perfect gift for grandparents, aunts, uncles, and godparents.

Sublimation ornaments imprinted with holiday designs, family photos, pet photos, baby's first Christmas photos, engagement photos, wedding photos, or any other custom designs can be offered to your customers to commemorate each holiday season.

Here is a step-by-step guide (with pictures!) on how to turn your holiday sublimation ornament blanks into a keepsake that will be remembered forever!

1. Preparations

Make sure you have your artwork designed at 300dpi and ready to print. It’s recommended to use a product template when available. Have all of your items together.

2. Print your transfer

Print your image on sublimation paper from your sublimation printer. head band

Make sure your heat press is on and set the temperature to 400 degrees.

4. Dry your transfer

Hover transfer under an open heat press for 10 seconds to dry excess moisture.

5. Place Nomex Felt Pad on the Bottom Table

Place Nomex felt pad on the bottom table of your heat press machine. Cover with a sheet of cover paper.

6. Dust transfer with ProSpray II

Dust transfer with DyeTrans II {{ProSpray}} to secure the substrate to the transfer.

7. Place Ornament on heat press

Place the ornament with the imaging side face up, on top of Nomex Felt Pad and protective paper, on the bottom table. Cover with a sheet of protective paper.

8. Cover with heat conductive pad and press

Cover it all with a piece of ? inch Heat Conductive Green Rubber Pad and press according to time '4 Min 30 SEC' using light pressure.

9. Carefully remove from press and unwrap

Carefully remove the ornament from the press, remove used transfer, and enjoy your creation!

RECOMMENDED PAPER: DyeTrans Multi-Purpose or TexPrint


TIME: 3 MIN 30 SEC

TEMP: 400° F

PRESSURE: LIGHT


Hover transfer under open heat press for 10 seconds to dry excess moisture.

  • 1. Place 1/2" Nomex Felt Pad on Bottom Table.
  • 2. Cover the Nomex Felt Pad with a sheet of protective paper.
  • 3. Use ProSpray to attach your transfer to the ornament.
  • 4. Place the ornament with imaging side face up, on top of Nomex Felt Pad and protective paper, on bottom table.
  • 5. Cover with a sheet of protective paper.
  • 6. Cover it all with a piece of 1/8" Green Rubber Pad and press according to time, temperature, and pressure above.

OUR INSTRUCTIONS ARE BASED ON USING A DK20S, DK3110 AND/OR A COUNTER TOP CONVECTION OVEN. TIMES AND TEMPERATURES WILL VARY DEPENDING ON WHICH EQUIPMENT YOU USE.
