The relevance of preventive maintenance (PM)
Periodically, we change the oil in our automobiles, rotate and balance tires, and get a tuneup because we want reliability and confidence.
When we turn the ignition we expect performance and assurance we will get from “point A to point B” without having to stop and perform timely procedures that could be prevented with scheduled maintenance.

Here at Condé, we view our sublimation printers with the same perception. We offer our experienced knowledge and practices to help our clients maintain exceptional upkeep on their sublimation systems. We have some preventive maintenance exercises that will keep your system running lean and provide efficiency at minimum cost.

One of the procedures we often address on incoming support calls is cleaning the capping station. What is the capping station? The capping station is located just under the print head on both the Epson and Ricoh printers and Its primary function is to pull ink through the print head by means of a vacuum. This vacuum is created by a pump which is located beneath the capping station. The path in which the ink takes during this process is considered the capping station.

It also consists of a sponge-like padding in a pan. The pan drains through a tube and into your maintenance tank. We have provided detailed documentation and audio videos for how to correctly clean the capping stations for both the Epson and the Ricoh sublimation systems. Nozzle checks are another way we provide preventive maintenance to our sublimations printers, as it is an excellent way to verify we have a healthy printer, exercise the print heads, move ink, and reduce any clogging. Artainium and gel inks are thicker than the original inks which are water based, therefore, much thinner and less clogging with the.
Harvey Head Cleaner and Print Jockey are both inexpensive software programs that can help with timely nozzle checks even if you are not at the printer or don’t use the printer often.

How to do a Nozzle Check:
Start Your Software
Go to the Control Panel
Select Printers and Faxes or Devices
Right click on the Printer Icon; left click on “Printing Preferences”
Left click on “Maintenance” or “Utilities”; then left click on “Nozzle Check”

If you have the E4000 series printers be sure to left click “Print” not “Auto” when given the option.
