PRESSURE

Hover transfer under open heat press for 10 seconds to dry excess moisture.

1) Cover the press with protective paper.

2) Remove the peel coat film from the hardboard.

3) Place the hardboard face down on the protective sheet and cover with another sheet of paper.

4) Prepress for 20 seconds.

5) Place a protective sheet of paper on top of the hardboard and cover with (at least) a 5 lb. weight and allow to cool fully. After cooling, dry any remaining moisture on the hardboard with protective paper.

6) Product presses face-up with image face down and should be affixed using heat tape or Pro Spray. Ensure the transfer does not buckle around the edges. Also, any portion of heat tape touching the image will inhibit image transfer in that area and will communicate an impression of the tape in that area.

7) Place the face-up hardboard (as it remains covered with protective paper).

8) Cover the back of the transfer with protective paper.

9) Press and repeat the cooling procedure as in number 5.

It is possible to damage hardboards if one picks at the corner or edge with a fingernail or sharp instrument to try to remove the protective film. We have found the best way to remove the film and minimize the risk of damage is to use the tacky side of a piece of protective film recently removed from a tile. Drag the tacky side of the film along the top surface of the tile starting at the corner and moving towards the center of the tile. If you do not have an extra piece of film handy, you can use the pad of your thumb or forefinger in the same manner to peel back the edge.

Should the hardboard warp after transfer and cooling, heat it again with the backside face-up for 20 seconds. Follow the cooling procedure as noted in number (5) above.
